Limited obstetrical ultrasound.
Performed by trained medical personnel under physician oversight. The scan is limited in scope and not a substitute for diagnostic ultrasound or prenatal care.
Eligibility
A limited ultrasound is offered after a positive pregnancy test result. Eligibility depends on clinical factors discussed at your visit.
What to expect
The scan typically takes 20 to 30 minutes. You will be in a private exam room with the medical staff member performing the scan. The purpose is to confirm three things: viability, approximate gestational age, and intrauterine location of the pregnancy.
Performed by qualified staff
Scans are performed by trained medical personnel under the oversight of a licensed physician. Images and findings are reviewed by the supervising physician.
Limitations
This is a limited obstetrical ultrasound. It is not a diagnostic ultrasound and does not screen for fetal anomalies. It does not replace prenatal care from an OB or midwife. We can refer you to community providers for ongoing prenatal care.
